Every Wednesday, the ugly hug shares a playlist personally curated by an artist/band that we have been enjoying. This week we have a collection of songs put together by the New Jersey-based band, lightheaded.
Ringing out amongst the jangly jurisdiction of pop-laddled prophets and day-dreaming devotees, lightheaded came to fruition back in 2017 as the duo of Cynthia Rittenbach and Stephen Stec. Since then, the project has pooled together in forms of new collaboration, jumping through puddles of glee and grit with each introduction. Their most recent release, 2025’s Thinking, Dreaming, Scheming!, revels in an assortment of reverberated dreams, where sweet harmonies pull apart like citrusy fibers, and words of longing and defeat stick like a pith between your teeth.

About the playlist, the group shared;
“The season is changing here in New Jersey. It’s that sweet spot of the season. Its colors galore out here. Whenever you glance, there’s some nice hues on the trees. Waking up in the morning with the window open is getting good. Here are some sounds that might bring to mind an autumn scamper through the autumnal change, chock-full of some good pals, lovely labelmates, and all time influences. “
